Farm News & Recipes

This week it has felt like the farm is transitioning into summertime. Heat-averse crops like broccoli, cauliflower and kohlrabi are winding down while heat-loving crops like summer squash are bursting with productivity. Even the later summer crops like cucumbers, eggplant and tomatoes are beginning to produce tiny fruits that will soon be filling your CSA bags. It’s been pretty warm out in the field, but we embrace the heat and all the bounty it brings us!

If you’re grilling for the 4th this weekend add some veggies to the mix. Toss the summer squash and kohlrabi with some olive oil, salt, and pepper and grill on each side until they are tender. The crunchy butter lettuce and sweet cipollini onions will make great burger toppers too!

Quinoa salad with a medley of sauteed vegetables makes a great side dish or light meal. Swap in any of this week’s veggies in this recipe and garnish with julienned basil.
