So here’s a real lesson on being vigilant about awareness and not taking it for granted that you can just go out and buy safe, usable products (or that you should necessarily buy something you can make, even if you could take for granted that it were safe).
Lewis mentioned last week that he picked up a rolling window curtain to use as a movie screen. Sounds resourceful and awesome! We took it out of its wrapper and the whole room filled up with a vinyl smell. We opened all the windows, but the smell never really dissipated. We took the curtain away. Such an obviously toxic product that is seen as totally normal! Right now we’re using a fabric shower curtain as a movie screen. It’s a little wrinkled, but at least the offgasing is more subtle.
